The Earth Beneath Our Feet Syrah 2017 comes exclusively from Franschhoek. Similar oak and ageing regime to the Grenache but a little more volume being produced, but not that much really. Only 12 barrels made!
A lovely garnet hue. Again, needs an hour in a decanter to really show itself. Super meaty on the nose, smoky, gamey, cooked meat. Olive and spice then, after a minute or two, dried fruits of red berries and redcurrants come through, plus a hint of cherry. Spicy and seriously delicious, big and bold but not heavy, still elegant to a degree with good restraint. For just over £20 a bottle is again, just stellar value for money.
Just a fantastic line-up from this producer!
