Maro Cariñena Tinto 2018

Maro Cariñena Tinto 2018 crafted at Bodegas Anadas, however it's blended and put together by Moflo Wines and Spaniche Wines. The aim of Maro is to promote Cariñena the region. Maro Cariñena Tinto is one of the first wines to bear the name of the region. As a result, the label had to express the village subsequently the picture is a cartoon expression of the village of Carignan. The Cariñena D.O. was established in 1932, not long after Rioja actually. It's located in the province of Zaragoza and Cariñena itself is home to some really old vines.

The vineyard set up is a mix of modern and traditional trellising systems with a few splatterings of bush vines. Four vineyards make up the estate with varying soils, aspects and altitudes. The lowest vineyard is 400 metres above sea level and the highest vineyards hits 910 metres. The soil types vary in form with loam, sandy loam, gravel and slate.

Cariñena is a continental climate where the diurnal range allows for ripeness and purity of fruit, therefore, retaining natural acidity. The region grows mainly Garnacha and Tempranillo and some old vine Carignan dating back to 1948. Maro Cariñena Tinto 2018 is a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Tempranillo. The Garnacha is 100% carbonic maceration and the Tempranillo is a 100% stainless steel ferment. The grapes are estate grown and bottled at the origin at Bodegas Anadas, Cariñena.

Maro Cariñena Tinto is hugely aromatic with ripe blackcurrant, cherries and blackberries. Juicy and textured palate with soft tannin and a scented length. Well integrated with the same fruit clusters on the palate. Totally smashable. Serve at cellar temperature, around 18 degrees for max enjoyment.
