The Monastrell grapes, native to Yecla yet still so underrated, are here grown on organic plots at 750 metres above sea level, a perfect area for organic production. Dry, sunny weather and specific soil conditions here give little chance for mould or pests to thrive, allowing a pesticide-free and agrochemical-free crop every year. The wine is fruit-forward and deep, with smooth tannins.
The Castaño family have been pioneers in the Yecla DO in south-eastern Spain for several generations, staying true to their roots by operating almost exclusively with grapes native to the area.
