White wines from Provence are rarely spoken of, given the glut of rosé that hails from this region. This one though is a true example of how wonderfully floral and exotic they can be, and what many might be missing out on. Lovely freshness and acidity despite the grapes here generally being known for their less acidic qualities. Real Marlborough Sauvignon vibes, with loads of energy.
Domaine de la Navicelle is located in the heart of Provence on the northern slope of a massif called La Colle Noire, right on the edge of the coastal conservatory. The vines are terraced on heavy clay soils and a rocky subsoil of limestone, sandstone and shale. The northern orientation and the proximity to La Colle Noire protect the vines from the heat, obtaining rich, complex wines with a nice freshness and a true identity.
