Asua Crianza 2017 is just crazy good value. CVNE can be misunderstood but this wine is proof that no matter what level or price they are making wine, they always overdeliver. Hand-harvested with extended maceration. 14 months in French and American oak. Then bottled and left to mature for 6 months. 2017 as a vintage saw a growing cycle of 161 days. Overall a good ripening period and decent vintage.
A deep garnet colour and quite aromatic. Complex flavours of fresh and dried black fruit. Hints of spice and a lick of toast. The slightly warmer vintage means riper fruit expression. Structured tannins that smooth and silky with a touch of warmth of the back palate. The Asua has a modern label which actually looks pretty sweet!
