Classic Roussillon blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, but planted over clay and limestone, giving the wine more tension and structure than you'd generally find from Southern French reds. Deep, elegant and one to enjoy on the colder evenings.

The Château Montana vineyards are nestled between the sea and the mountains, on sunny terraces. Growing grapes in this heat is no mean feat. It takes a lot of work and dedication to ensure they don't overripen (losing their acidity and becoming way too boozy), but the Jonquères d'Oriola family do a stellar job at producing wines of great precision and tension, with that characteristic southern French warmth to them still.
