Mougin is a real mash-up of nearly all the red varieties the domain works with. A proper mid-week wine - good intensity but not overly complex - just what's called for.
The estate has existed since Roman times, when it was known as “Villa Manzanetto”. It is now planted with a mixture of grape varieties and covers an area of nearly 1,000 hectares, but fewer than 10% is planted to vines. The area was renamed “Grand Caumont”, after the garrigue covered hill that overlooks the château. In those Roman times, they called it "Capus Monti", meaning "head of the hill" in Latin.
