Firstly Pizzini Rosetta Sangiovese Nebbiolo Rosé 2020 is a tribute to the Matriarch, Rosetta. The Pizzini family moved to Australia sometime after WWII and started growing grapes in the late ’70s. 1990 marked the first vintage under their own label, Pizzini Wines. Nebbiolo was the first, paying homage to their Italian roots. Therefore becoming specialists in Italian varietals in Australia. They continue to set the benchmark for quality and value for money, one of many reasons why we love them.
Pronounced aromas of fresh strawberries and raspberries. Dry and crisp plate with fresh red cherry and ripe plum. The Nebbiolo, in addition, lends length and bright pink colour. Rosetta fruit comes off of selected Sangiovese and Nebbiolo vineyards. Those vineyards are known for producing soft, delicate and fruity grapes. Grapes were harvested, crushed and left on their skins for 8 to 9 hours. After pressing, the juice was cold fermented at 15˚C. Firstly, this helps to retain fruit aromatics and secondly freshness.
We love Rosé, it's such a versatile style and is so food-friendly. Styles vary from fresh and fruity, to textured and complex. We have a couple of other Rosés that differ in style, for instance, the Terrafusa Storta, that's complex and textured.
